Final Chill

Put every meme from Elf ever right into this post.

This event was the most chill event. You could come and go. Come play some reindeer games. Get in the photo booth with Santa or get kissed by Santa in the photo booth ;) Eat some popcorn, enjoy some hot chocolate, or eat yummy donuts. Watch Elf, cause what other movie screams Christmas like Elf?

All in all, I absolutely loved worked with my event lead on this event. Amy is one of the sweetest girls who truly has an elf affinity like me for all things sugar, christmas caroling, and event planning.

Time for finals! But I am so grateful I got to *chill* before the craze.

Freeze Fest

Christmas and Ice Skating. What more could you need in life?

The holidays are quite honestly my favorite time of the year because Christmas sweaters are life and everyone is so happy!!! Not one person at this event was frowning. Well, except for the freak accidents that seem to happen...but even as I drove a few to the ER they were still happy!!! That big, jolly man has got a hold on us.

This event was at the Seven Peaks Ice Arena and we rented out the whole place! There was ice hockey, ice skating, gingerbread house making, photo/picture taking, giant twistering, and dodge-balling. Seriously something for everyone!

So mark your calendars for next year cougars.

GoProvo

Now presenting the latest and greatest scavenger hunt: GoProvo!!!

Tbh this event started out wanting to partner with Questival, but through the twists and turns of life, we ended up with an even better event that was all and only about BYU! Items that won you points were hanging out with President Wirthlin or taking a picture riding the cougar by the stadium. While we all waited to hear who won, we even had a huge dance party. It was one heck of a day.

Best part? The winning teams won a Go Pro! Get it? GoPROvo?? Our advertising was pretty clever.

Elder Vergara

My brother has got to be the cutest missionary I have ever seen. He truly is my greatest example and I am so incredibly proud of the sacrifice he has made to go out and serve a mission.

For those of you who don't quite understand what a mission is, please ask! Basically, my brother is going to serve and love the people in Spanish in San Fernando, California. He will teach them the gospel of our church and truly show them what joy comes from having a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I know that he is ready to serve and that he will bless so many people's lives, especially mine. I am so grateful for his friendship and his example. I absolutely love that I get to write him weekly and send the cutest little care packages. And I know he would absolutely love it if you would shoot him a quick message every once in a while too!

HOCO 2015

I have always loved homecoming. Forever and ever. My high school friends can attest to that. So, doing an even bigger homecoming is, well, my dream come true! It is also the most tiring week I have to endure each fall on top of everything else. So homecoming week truly is a feat for everyone involved.

We started off the week with my FIRST OFFICIAL EVENT! The Homecoming BBQ out in Brigham Square. We serve over 2000 people, in less than an hour, AND ran out of food. The marching band came and kept up the pace and Cosmo had a flipping good time pumping up the thousands of people in the line. The volunteers and my event lead were incredibly willing and had high energy, so the event really was successful!

Next up! Homecoming noon-days! Every single day at noon in Brigham Square there was an event that correlated with the Homecoming theme, "Make Your Mark." The Diva Alex put together this amazing, huge chalkboard that everyone could come write on. And Ty is legit an artist and he put up some amazing art to advertise the rest of the week. Incredible.

On Wednesday was my next official event, True Blue Foam, aka the most fun event that we do. (my opinion) We set up huge slip'n'slides that have tons and tons of blue foam running down them. The oh so amazing Cooper Brown DJed the event and we had blue snow cones to match. My event lead and his crew truly kept this event smooth sailing and it had a huge turn out from the students!

Friday was insane. We do three different dances so that we can accommodate as many students as possible with their many different tastes. We do a formal, semi-formal, and a casual. I heard the other two were amazing, but the event I was over was the casual! AKA the biggest, most sick dance BYU has ever seen! It was black light themed with tons of sweet lighting from DJ Cooper Brown, a photo booth, a black light VIP lounge, and glow in the dark drinks. The room was packed. full. of people jamming out all night long. At the end, we threw out tons of balloons and people went craazzyyy. Seriously the coolest event I have ever seen or been a part of. My event lead and all her volunteers worked so hard that night and it really paid off! We sold out on tickets! just incredible.

Finally, the big finale! Saturday morning was the Homecoming Parade where we do a pancake breakfast for the viewers. Cute blue pancakes and lots of tired smiling faces were shared on that early morning after the dances. I may have burnt myself a few times flipping some pancakes, but it was totally worth it. Had to finish HOCO week strong!

A Night Under The Stars

There is something about the cool weather and 4 amazing names that really pull you in and make you appreciate a different genre of music more and more!

Our fall concert for BYUSA this year was VanLadyLove, Foreign Figures, KitFox, and Plan Z. There were a few iffy moments in there, but the event lead totally pulled it off and the event was so fun. I had a great time sitting all the way at the front with my close friends enjoying every beat drop.

Thankfully there are two more concerts this year to have even more fun at! I expect to see you there!

Fall Fest

Shout out to Rachel Housely for working so hard on this event with her event lead! A lot of things fell through, but the event still ended up being a blast and the event did not feel empty at all. There was a photo bus, a dunk tank, the Dunk Team, ComedySportz, DJ Cooper Brown, and tons and tons of Famous Amos cookies and assorted chips! Dude. Tons and tons. As in we have a floor to ceiling wall covered in cookies and chips.

Throwing it back and kicking it back was a great way to start off the year. way to go buggs!

Welcome Back Week BBQ

All during the first week of school there were activities of some kind at noon right in Brigham Square. This was actually a comms event BUT it was great practice for the homecoming BBQ that activities actually puts on. And my two best friends were in charge of it so I basically was required to be there.

Best part of it all was manning the grill and making hot dogs to perfection. and don't forget the JDawgs sauce. #flawless

Vergara Familia Goes Peruvian

I am so very blessed to come from a family that truly values travel. My mom and dad were brave ones and would take our big family of five on international and long road trips all the time. I honestly could not tell you what I got for Christmas last year, but I can remember our family trip to Paris when I was 11 or our big cross country road trip to San Diego when I was 9. Spending 24/7 in hotel rooms or cars with my siblings is not always the happiest environment to be in on these trips, but they are the most fun and most loving times and create the best memories.

As many of you know, my brother is serving a mission for our church and leaves this October. The whole family will not be completely together for the next two years, so we decided to jet set and enjoy one big family vacation that will last us for the next two years.

The adventurous family that we are (halfway kidding) made the journey to Peru, where we visited both Lima and Cusco. Keep in mind that my family has a 10 year age difference between me and the youngest, so finding activities that everyone could do and making sure we always had nap time was essential.

In Lima we tried the tourist thing and visited Plaza de Armas which has the royal palace, the archbishops home, and the Catedral de Lima. We learned from these places that we appreciate tours and the things of the past, but not for very long. We then discovered many market places and little chinatowns and ate a lot of authentic Peruvian food. We also met up with one of my Dad’s old mission companion and were incredibly blessed to interact and talk with natives in his companion’s home as well as at church on Sunday. And adventure wise? A few of us went paragliding over the city, even Cruz did it, and loved it!

Now, give everyone a little bit of altitude sickness from going sea level to 11,000 feet and you have the Vergara Family in Cusco. We also learned on this trip that we are not big city folk and all enjoy the sun and nature more. To get acclimated to the huge elevation change, we walked slowly, shopped and ate in more markets, and enjoyed the sunshine.

Cusco was really only a place to sleep because the star attraction was Machu Picchu! We took a super fun train ride through the mountains, listened to traditional Peruvian music, ate the traditional food, and enjoyed the sights. Machu Picchu itself was jaw dropping. I now know why they call it one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We were a little more adventurous in Cusco too because we went zip-lining in the Andes! From mountain to mountain, going upside-down, superman style, and screaming the whole way down the line.

Honestly, as a family, we did a lot better on this trip with controlling attitudes and tears. I truly enjoyed talking and hanging out with my siblings, and it’s probably an age thing, but I totally consider my siblings good friends these days. Never thought I would ever say that… They are all good fun.

You’ll see the Vergara Clan in our entirety in two years. And wow, that reunion will be so so sweet.
